The Basics

Yarnplayer is built to know as little about you as possible. This plain-language policy explains exactly what the app does and doesn't do with your data. The short version: there are no ads, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and no account to create. Your library lives on your device.

What We Don't Collect

Yarnplayer does not collect or store personal information such as your name, email address, or location. It contains no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking frameworks, and no social logins. You don't sign in to use it.

Ad Analysis

Ad Analysis is the one feature that sends anything off your device, and it only runs when you ask it to.

• When you analyze an episode, Yarnplayer sends the episode's transcript text to an AI provider to identify the sponsored segments.
• The request is anonymous. Only the transcript text is sent. No name, account, device identifier, or other personal information is attached.
• The transcript is used only to return the segment analysis for that request. It is not used to build a profile of you.
• Ad Analysis is an optional, Pro feature. Nothing about you leaves your device.

On-Device Transcripts

Transcripts you generate for episodes and audiobooks are produced on your device using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The audio and the resulting transcript stay on your device unless you choose to run Ad Analysis (above) or share them yourself.

Podcast Directory & Feeds

When you search for podcasts, Yarnplayer queries Apple's public podcast directory to show results. When you follow a show, the app downloads its RSS feed and episodes directly from the publisher's servers. These requests are made in the normal way any podcast app fetches public feeds and do not share personal information about you.

Servers You Connect

Yarnplayer can connect to media servers that you own or have access to, such as Plex, to stream and download your own audiobooks. When you connect a server, you sign in to that service directly and Yarnplayer stores the resulting access token securely on your device (and in your iCloud Keychain if iCloud sync is enabled) so it can reach your library. Your credentials are not sent to us. Each connected service has its own privacy policy.

Data Storage & iCloud Sync

Your library, playback progress, bookmarks, history, settings, and other app data are stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, this data is synchronized across your own devices through Apple iCloud (CloudKit) using your personal Apple Account. It is stored in your private iCloud database, not on any server of ours, and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

Yarnplayer offers an optional Pro upgrade. Purchases are processed securely through Apple's App Store, and Yarnplayer never sees or stores your payment information. To verify entitlements and keep your Pro access working across your devices, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous identifier and your purchase status, not personally identifiable information. Importing Your Own Files

When you import audiobooks or audio files, Yarnplayer uses Apple's standard document and file pickers, which means the app only ever accesses the files you specifically choose to import. Those files stay on your device.

Third-Party Content

Yarnplayer displays artwork and information, and downloads audio, directly from publishers' and third parties' servers. These third parties have their own independent privacy policies, and we have no responsibility for their content or practices.

Security

Your security matters to us. All communication between the app and any service it contacts uses HTTPS, and access tokens for servers you connect are stored using the system keychain.

Children

Yarnplayer is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will always be available here. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
